Microcline (Carlsbad Twins) with Muscovite, Quartz, and Schorl - ex Charlie Key
Large, well formed Microcline crystals with minor Quartz, Muscovite, and Schorl from the Erongo Mountains in Namibia.
Both of the largest Microcline crystals are Carlsbad twins! The back of each is covered with an epitactic growth of Muscovite with needle-thin black Schorl crystals. A single Quartz crystal sits at the base.
No damage except to any of the major Microcline crystals on the piece. The single Quartz crystal has some exsolution but it does not detract (the quartz crystal is the least conspicuous item on the specimen).
Size of largest Microcline crystal - 50 x 30 x 20 mm.
Size of largest Schorl crystal - 15 x 1 x 1 mm.
Size of largest Quartz crystal - 22 x 15 x 12 mm.
A classic specimen, from a world-famous locality, from the equally famous Charlie Key Collection!
